Telechips, Supplying AP to NEOS for NTT DOCOMO Smart Home Product
Telechips (CEO: Minho Seo), a multimedia processor and digital communication processor company, supplies AP (Application Processor) to NEOS which manufactures for Japanese largest mobile operator, NTT DOCOMO`s smart home device.
On June 18th , Telechips announced it has started supplying an ARM(R) CortexTM A5 based AP, for NTT DOCOMO`s Smart Home Device dstick launched this March.
Telechips` sales to the open market and small and medium sized service operators have continued since Telechips` smart stick concept was debuted in the CES 2012. However, it is the first time for Telechips to supply its AP to a big service operator such as NTT DOCOMO with over 60 million subscribers.
NTT DOCOMO`s new SmartTV dstick, a stick type device makes available d videoTM (video store with over 13,000 titles and 75,000 items, including Japanese and international movies, dramas, animation, music, karaoke and BeeTV(R)), d anime storeTM (anime store with over 7,500 episodes of 450 popular titles) and d hitsTM (music store specializing in J-Pop presented via 50 programs) to subscribers with flat monthly rate. Pre-reservation for the new service started last February and the service commenced this March.
According to Telechips, supplying an STB manufacturer with Telechips` AP product containing HW decoder which makes stable and high quality multimedia available and its stable SDK where various services can be easily implemented without middleware, played a big role in NTT DOCOMO`s launching the service quickly.
With all these achievements, Telechips plans to increase its sales in the Smart Stick and OTT Box market via Asian and European service operators.
Telechips` spokesman said "Service operators` market entry in the Smart STB market has been significantly increased since Telechips entered the market last year and Telechips strives to increase sales in the STB service operator market. We expect sales in the smart STB will rapidly take up the substantial portion of the entire Telechips` sales."
